Cooking Class - Sushi Making2013-05-26T14:30:00-04:002013-05-26T17:30:00-04:00Register online and pay your deposit of $30 per person for class here. The balance of $90 will be paid by you with cash or check on the day of your class! Sushi making class fee is $120 per person. Students in this hands-on three hour event will learn how to wrap a sushi roll, use a sushi knife, cook Japanese rice, prepare Japanese hot sauces and more. Chef Joe Poon will lead a shopping expedition to an Asian Grocery Store, where students will learn about purchasing the ingredients they will need to make sushi at home. Each student will take home two big boxes of sushi. Following the class, students will receive a full lunch or dinner including Gogi berry spring Mix healthy salad with creamy sesame tangy dressing, lobster with fresh mango in french philo dough, crispy Peking duck with scallion and jicama, and vegetarian spring roll appetizers. Entrees include beef tenderloin medallion with artichoke and Japanese eggplant in spicy garlic demi glace essence, vegetarian avocado dragon roll, and crispy General Joe chicken with pad Thai noodle served with Asian baby greens followed by sesame oreo cookie cheese cake with fresh fruit and green tea ice cream and healthy green tea. Chef Poon will have the students laughing and smiling while they learn to make dim sum. Dim sum is Cantonese for “heart’s delight” and includes a variety of small, mouth-watering dishes, which can be served any time of the day and are standard fare in teahouses.Each student will get the ingredients and different wrappers to make his/her own dim sum. Students will learn how to wrap three different types of wontons (American, Shanghai and Hong Kong ) and will practice making a variety of dumplings. After learning to make dim sum, the students can sit and savor their creations.
